Vueling appoints Fernando Val as new COO and Julio Rodriguez as Director Network Planning, Revenue Management & Distribution.

The two directors have been with the company since 2006 holding various positions of responsibility within operations and revenue.

Barcelona, 16th May - Vueling, the new generation airline, has strengthened its management team with the internal promotion of Fernando Val and Julio Rodriguez. The two directors have been with the company since 2006 and have held various positions of responsibility within operations and revenue for the airline.

Fernando Val, 45, was previously Director of quality and safety in-flight and has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. He will be responsible for a team of 1,600 people and for the operational area of the company that includes the flight ops, maintenance, airports, ground staff, as well as pilots and cabin crew. Fernando previously worked with Britannia Airways and Thomsonfly in the UK, leaving to join Clickair in 2006 where he held successive positions of responsibility until its merger with Vueling in 2009..

Fernando has a post graduate education in Quality Systems for Aeronautical Organisations and Risk Management; PMD (Program for Management Development) IESE Business School (2011). He is an Airbus A-320 Instructor and Spanish Air Force Commander (retired). He has flown aircraft including Hercules C- 130, Boeing 737 and Airbus A-320, among others.

Julio Rodríguez, 37, was formerly Director of Revenue and becomes the new Network Planning, Revenue Management & Distribution Director. In his new position Julio will manage a team of 40 people and will be responsible for the strategy and development of Vueling's routes, as well as the price and distribution policy.

Julio has a Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Cologne (Germany) and research at PennState University in Pennsylvania (USA). Julio also holds an Executive MBA from IESE Business School (2010). He Joined Vueling in 2006 having previously worked for The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Düsseldorf (Germany). At Vueling, Julio Rodríguez has managed the income streams of the company by introducing innovative policies.

Vueling in the UK:

Vueling's first flights into London arrived in 2009. The airline operated flights from London to Bilbao, La Coruna, Seville, Vigo and Valencia. For summer 2012, with an expanded UK route network, Vueling will operate from London Heathrow to Bilbao, Galicia, La Coruna and Vigo, from Southampton to Barcelona and from Cardiff to Alicante, Barcelona and Palma Mallorca.
