Vueling is offering a total of 937.260 seats on eight routes from Rome this summer and highlighting the start of a direct connection with Nantes.

In Italy, Vueling will grow 17% to operate a total of 23 routes at nine airports (Rome, Milan, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Verona, Palermo, Genoa and Naples)

Through connecting flights via its Barcelona hub, Vueling offers seven new routes to Fiumicino (Las Palmas, Lanzarote, Santiago, A Coruña, Vigo, Brest and Southampton)

Rome, March 23, 2012 - Vueling, the new generation airline, commences services from a new permanent operating base in Rome starting on 25 March coinciding with the start of the new 2012 summer season, as announced yesterday at the airport of Rome-Fiumicino by the CEO of Vueling, Alex Cruz, and the Chief Executive Officer of Roma Airport (ADR), Lorenzo Lo Presti.

The international airport Leonardo Da Vinci in Rome has become Vueling's third international base having already inaugurated bases in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Toulouse (France).

"This is the first necessary step to consolidate the growth of Vueling in Rome and in Italy," said Alex Cruz. "From now on passengers of Fiumicino will have at their disposal a first flight at 7:00h in the morning, arriving to Barcelona at 08:50h, perfect for those who travel for business and for connecting with our extensive network of flights from El Prat."

Vueling's main goal in Rome is to repeat its growth strategy in Paris, where the airline operates a total of 17 direct routes and where it has established itself as the third largest airline in the French capital both in capacity and in carried passengers.

The based Airbus A320, with capacity for 180 passengers, will offer the possibility of improving current schedules due to the flights departing early in the morning and late in the evening, will enable increased frequency on routes already operating, as well as the possibility of launching new destinations always at competitive prices.

In total Vueling will offer 937.260 seats on eight routes from Rome. The new Rome-Nantes connection this summer will join the existing routes to Barcelona, Malaga, Ibiza, Menorca, Mallorca, Valencia and Paris.

Vueling offers seven new routes to Fiumicino (Las Palmas, Lanzarote, Santiago, A Coruña, Vigo, Brest and Southampton) via Barcelona.

This summer, Vueling will operate 76 routes from its main airport, Barcelona-El Prat. This wide range of destinations from Barcelona coupled with the significant increase in frequencies on virtually its entire network, increases to more than 1.200 the Vueling to Vueling connections via El Prat Airport.

For passengers from Rome, Vueling connections offer the possibility of flying to seven destinations totally new from Fiumicino (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Santiago, A Coruña, Vigo, Brest and Southampton) via El Prat Airport at competitive prices.

The success of the flights connecting through the hub at Barcelona is due to competitive prices resulting from a controlled cost structure. Connecting flights, inaugurated on July 5th, 2010, achieved great success in its first year of operation. In fact, in one year more than 1,000,000 passengers used this innovative Vueling service through Barcelona. Of this 1 million, 94.458 passengers were travelling from or to Fiumicino airport. The forecast for 2012 is to duplicate connecting passengers and reach two million passengers.
