More than 100,000 seats during this winter season.

Vueling, the new generation Spanish airline has announced an increase in frequency of its flights from London Heathrow to Bilbao in northern Spain. From October 30th the flight schedule will feature twice daily flights, doubling the airline's capacity to the Spanish destination.

The new Vueling London Heathrow to Bilbao schedule is as follows:-

Depart London, Heathrow 11.35 and 17.35 to arrive Bilbao 14:30 and 20:30 respectively.

Depart Bilbao 09.55 and 15:50 to arrive London Heathrow 10.40 and 16.40 respectively.

Times are local:

The increased frequency follows a successful seven years of service between London and Bilbao. "We are responding to increased demand from passengers in both the leisure and business markets. The new schedule enables business executives to make convenient day return trips, and leisure visitors can enjoy comfortable long weekend breaks," said Alex Cruz CEO of Vueling.

Vueling has noted a growing demand from regular business travellers for the route to the burgeoning economic centre. "This sector is increasingly important for Vueling and we plan to create additional business focused products to join our existing portfolios of services," commented Cruz on the significance of the market sector. Vueling already offers a variety of business focused products including Go which enables passengers to check in for an earlier flight than booked if required; Duo allows clients to buy the middle seat of three for extra space; business travel arrangers can purchase Vueling seats through travel agents and business travellers can earn points on their Iberia Punto scheme.

Another product providing flexibility for the business traveller is the recently launched iPhone application. It allows, with a simple and intuitive interface, online check-in and downloading of boarding passes, seat selection, changing time and/or day of travel, and direct access to the Customer Service Centre and other useful phone numbers. The same services are available with full functionality through Vueling's mobile portal, a channel that has doubled sales compared to last year. These services are all available anywhere, anytime just by using a smartphone.

The modern city of Bilbao, with its major tourist attraction the Guggenheim museum, is well positioned for leisure visitors.

The Basque city is rapidly becoming known as Spain's "capital of gastronomy" and it is nearby San Sebastian, which has the finest city beaches in Spain.

Spanish tourists are also taking advantage of competitive rates and the weak pound to Euro exchange rate to visit London and further afield.

Flights from London Heathrow start from €39.99.
