magniX today released an update on its strategic direction and Board governance. magniX, producer of the industry’s leading flight-tested powertrains for electric aircraft, will broaden its applications beyond aerospace to develop solutions for the electric age. The company also announced new appointments to the Board to support the activation of this strategy.
magniX has developed the leading fully-integrated powertrain for electric aviation. In addition to a range of electric engines that have powered more than 200 flights across six different airframes, its product line also includes Samson batteries, magniDrive power electronics, and PDX800 power distribution units.
Applying Aerospace Products to New Growth Opportunities
Designed to meet the rigors of aerospace certification, magniX’s batteries, inverters, and power distribution units deliver unmatched energy density, cycle life, and advanced safety features. The company’s technology is built on an 800 volt architecture.
magniX’s aerospace grade standards of performance and reliability can be applied to deliver energy storage systems and motor and power generation capacity across mission-critical situations where lives and hardware are at risk. This includes key use cases in data centers, mobility, defense, and space.
The company will continue its work in aerospace, where it remains the industry leader. The company is working towards the first flight of the Bye Aerospace eFlyer 2, powered by Samson batteries.
New Board Leadership
Two senior executives at the Clermont Group, magniX’s parent company, have been appointed to new roles to strengthen magniX’s governance. Neil Perry, currently Head of Clermont Capital, joins magniX as Executive Chairman. Sean Gardiner, currently Managing Director at Clermont Capital, becomes Executive Director at magniX.
“magniX is on the cusp of a transformative opportunity, with unrivaled technology that is essential to the industries defining the 21st century,” said Neil Perry, Executive Chairman of magniX. “The world is experiencing a rapid buildout in electricity systems thanks to the rise of data centers and advances in the space, defense, and mobility industries. magniX has the technology and products that can address all of these opportunities.”
“I believe we will look back on this as a pivotal moment in magniX’s history as we move beyond the aerospace industry to take on a much wider set of opportunities”, said Reed Macdonald, CEO of magniX. “By applying aerospace standards of product performance and reliability to new use cases, we can increase magniX’s impact and build a world-scale company.”
