JMC Group, a leading global aviation services company, announced today it is pleased to partner with the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) as its chosen charity for the next three years. JMC, located at the International Office Park, Exeter Airport, will sponsor the transport service for patients attending the Haematology Centre at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (RD&E).
JMC Group is sponsoring three Volkswagen Tiguans which will be operational from this month, transporting blood cancer patients in Devon.
“We are very grateful to JMC Group, said Exeter Leukaemia Fund Fundraiser Gary Moore.
“ELF’s dedicated transport service removes the stress of the journey and parking at the busy Exeter hospital. We rely solely on voluntary funding from businesses and individuals to deliver our patient support services. Treatments can leave patients feeling very fragile. For many, this service is the only way to get to and from the hospital. It would be difficult for ELF to continue delivering such a vital patient transport service without this very generous sponsorship.”
“It’s great to see such a well-established local, yet global business giving back to our community. On behalf of Exeter Leukaemia Fund and local families affected by blood cancer - thank you JMC.”
“This terrific organisation is very close to our hearts and we are delighted to make a difference with this valued transport service, which provides a vitally important role in the community. We look forward to seeing our first vehicle on the road later this month,” said Hollie Prendergast, Director of JMC Group.
About Exeter Leukaemia Fund
Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) is a registered charity providing vital support to patients with blood cancer and related conditions, who attend the Haematology Centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
ELF’s vision is that families affected by a blood cancer and related conditions across Devon receive compassionate, tailored support. Dealing with a blood cancer or disorder is life- changing and scary. Treatment often requires lengthy procedures meaning days, weeks, or months at a time in hospital and in a lot of cases, years of follow up appointments.
Every week, hundreds of patients are treated in Yarty Ward at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital. ELF is there to support them and their families both in the hospital and in the local community. ELF lightens the load, supporting families from diagnosis and throughout treatment and beyond. The support services ELF offer include transport, accommodation, counselling, financial and legal advice, and the provision of vital equipment for the Haematology Centre.
ELF was founded in 1980 by Dr Miles Joyner, a consultant haematologist. wishing to improve the lives of patients with blood cancer and blood disorders through the provision of improved equipment and research funding. Achievements over its past 35 years include the funding and building of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital Haematology Centre and the funding of a critical care unit at the RD&E’s Yarty ward.
