The Air Law Firm announces opening of Ireland office as it celebrates third anniversary.

Wednesday 21st November 2018

David Chamberlain joins as Senior Associate:

The Air Law Firm LLP is marking its third anniversary this month with the opening of an office in Shannon, Ireland.  It is also strengthening its family of specialist aviation lawyers with the appointment of new senior associate, David Chamberlain.

David joins from law firm Watson Farley and Williams, where since 2015 he has been specialising in transactional work involving commercial airliners, business jets and helicopters.

The Air Law Firm's new office in Ireland, at Shannon Airport, is a strategic move for the expanding boutique firm, coming hard on the heels of the launch of an (onshore EASA) Irish Aircraft EJ Registry.

Air Law Firm partner and co-founder Aoife O'Sullivan has been working with Irish clients, companies interested in Ireland and the Government of Ireland for many years.  Aoife and others in the firm are and soon will be dual-qualified in Ireland and in the United Kingdom as the Practice intends to build on the strategic nature between the two countries as a natural progression. "We have a plan and we are carefully assessing all opportunities being presented to us.

Ireland was an easy choice given the history of aviation in Ireland, our team's commercial and litigation experience and the relationships we already have with Irish focused businesses and advisors," Aoife O'Sullivan said.  The business is working toward a formal inauguration with friends and partners in spring next year.

Bringing together the 'dream team.'

In joining The Air Law Firm David is reunited with former colleagues Aoife O'Sullivan, John Korzeniowski and Diego Garrigues and brings the Mayfair based aviation team to 9 lawyers.   Zimbabwe-born David, whose aviation experience dates back to his early days in structured finance at Freshfields in London, brings 11 years' experience to the business.

David works in both commercial aviation and in the corporate jet sector which neatly compliments the work of The Air Law Firm.

"Working as part of a closely-knit energetic team that is so revered in the aviation industry was why I leapt at the chance to join the team when I heard The Air Law Firm was expanding," David Chamberlain said.  I relish a challenge and the firm's  work is complex and international.  I am also looking forward to helping them in the future as they expand more into jurisdictions like Africa and South America"

Partner Aoife O'Sullivan said: "We are entering 2019 with an exciting new chapter - a new office in Shannon, a vibrant hub for leasing companies and an expanding home for business aviation players.  David's experience in commercial aircraft transactions further broadens our skillset and delivers new international contacts to our business, which from January will be active in the UK and Ireland," she added.
