Kelly Murphy, founder of Emerald Media USA and a private pilot, has accepted the role of Director of Communications and Editor-in-Chief of Women in Aviation magazine, effective 1 September.

Working with her international colleagues at Emerald Media, WAI's new bi-monthly magazine editor plans to launch (from 2017) a new profile page which trumpets the achievements of women in aviation on the worldwide stage.  The regular monthly WAI Connect eNewsletter will also feature news from the growing number of WAI Chapters around the world.

"Kelly's diverse experience in the sector makes her ideal for this new position. All of us at WAI look forward to seeing her make her personal mark on our publications and communications with our members," commented WAI President Dr. Peggy Chabrian.

Kelly has devoted decades to the aviation industry since learning to fly, aged 16.  She has written for and edited a number of various aviation publications including Water Flying, Professional Pilot and Commuter/Regional Airline News, before establishing the female-run and owned PR consultancy Emerald Media with UK partner Alison Chambers in 1993.   For the past 20+ years, Kelly has produced the US Regional Airline Association's official publication Regional Horizons, and most recently supported Flight Safety Foundation's official magazine AeroSafety World.

In related news, Emerald Media in the UK recently welcomed experienced aviation publications and marketing executive, Frances Williams to the team.  Frances, who was previously with LuxMedia's Altitudes is currently promoting the company's Single-Engine Turboprop Operators Conference and Fly-in, SETOps2016 on October 18th, in collaboration with BlueSky and London Oxford Airport, and supported by BBGA, EBAA and ERAA.
