Holiday airline becomes one of 20,000 certified online shops

SunExpress, a joint venture holiday airline from Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, is pleased to announce it has been awarded the prestigious European Trustmark guarantee from Trusted Shops. This means that its online customers are protected (when purchasing their flights online) of a completely secure and reliable shopping process. The airline's website www.sunexpress.com is now one of 20,000 certified online shops in Europe - and the first airline - where customers can purchase with warranty.

"For a strong brand in the online community, security is paramount, " said Roland Thiemann, Manager Marketing and PR of Trusted Shops GmbH. "Security and trust are fundamental concerns of consumers and sunexpress.com has ably demonstrated that it is worthy of our quality seal."

"We are very proud of this recognition from Trusted Shops," said Thomas Bornschein, Senior Manager Marketing & Business Segments at SunExpress. "For over 25 years, our airline has enjoyed a high level of confidence from our clients. They have that same trust in our online shop, which is an important part of our successful multi-channel strategy. Through our new Trusted Shops Trustmark customers can fully rely on SunExpress when purchasing flights online. We will also use the opportunity to collect our customers' reviews and evaluate internally and externally in order to optimize the customer experience permanently."

Founders of Trusted Shops, Jean-Marc Noël, Ulrich Hafenbradl and Thomas Karst, first pledged their commitment to increased security for online shopping - the Trusted Shops Guarantee - in 1999. Their evolved Trusted Shops Trustmark is a combination of a comprehensive audit by legal experts, solution-oriented customer service and financial protection to designate trustworthy shops.

Through the Trusted Shops customer reviews, companies can be awarded stars for delivery and customer service. They can also leave a comment to report on the experience they've had when shopping. In this way, consumers provide each other with guidance and give online retailers the opportunity to continuously improve their goods and services.

Founded in 1989, SunExpress has grown to be one of Europe's leading leisure specialists. Today, the airline carries about eight million passengers per year operating a fleet of 72 Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline serves the UK with twice weekly flights from London Luton Airport to Izmir on the Turkish Aegean Coast.
