Monday 13th October 2014

LONDON TUI UK and Ireland, the parent company of Thomson Airways, has awarded Rockwell Collins a new five-year contract for its ARINC AviNetĀ® Airport high-performance network services.

Thomson Airways, the UK's third largest airline, will use ARINC AviNet Airport as a robust shared network platform for its airport-based users. ARINC AviNet Airport will link common use and dedicated terminal equipment, self-service check-in kiosks and back office users, regardless of protocols, enhancing operations while significantly reducing costs.

"We chose Rockwell Collins because of the extensive capabilities of ARINC AviNet Airport," said Alan Blake, head of airport service delivery and compliance at Thomson Airways. "This proven technology replaces our current passenger logistics systems and provides an integrated departure control system for Thomson Airways with other U.K. and international airports."

"ARINC AviNet Airport's reliable connectivity will enable TUI UK and Ireland to enhance their airport operations globally, ultimately benefitting their passengers," said Michael DiGeorge, vice president of International and Global Airports for Rockwell Collins. "ARINC AviNet Airport allows Thomson Airway's check-in agents, operations personnel and ground handlers at airports to access a secure network communications service, saving money by eliminating the costs associated with multiple, dedicated connections."
