Budapest Airport celebrates launch of Budapest to Istanbul flights from Wizz Air.

  • Budapest Airport celebrates Wizz Air's new Budapest -Istanbul to Istanbul route.

The inaugural Wizz Air flight from Budapest to Istanbul, Turkey was celebrated on Friday 2nd August, as the expanding carrier added another destination to its growing network served from Budapest Airport.

This latest route from Budapest Airport will run four times a week operating on  Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 09.45, with a Sunday departure at 11.25. From 2nd September flights will be available five times a week when an additional Thursday departure at 07.25 joins the schedule. Flights will move to a daily service in March 2014. Lead in fares connecting the two capital cities start from 8990 HUF (30 Euros)

To mark the occasion a celebratory cake was handed over by Ms Eszter Almási Airline Development Manager for Budapest Airport to Ms Tamara Mshvenieradze Corporate Communication Manager for Wizz Air, and the crew.

Kam Jandu, Aviation Director for Budapest said, "Complementing the existing services to Istanbul's Ataturk airport by Turkish Airlines, we anticipate this new connection to Sabiha Gokcen will become an extremely busy route also. It offers business travellers another direct connection between two of Europe's increasingly important commercial cities, and leisure passengers a convenient way of reaching a popular tourist destination at a competitive rate. It also further enhances Wizz Air's position as one of the prominent airlines operating out of Budapest Airport.
