SkyWork Airlines makes the finals in the prestigious British-Swiss Business Awards.

Expanding Swiss regional airline, SkyWork Airlines has been shortlisted in the Company of the Year category at the second annual British-Swiss Business Awards organised by the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce.

The Bern Airport headquartered company has been acclaimed for its outstanding contribution to bilateral trade and investment between the UK and Switzerland, with its regular scheduled flights between British and Swiss capitals. SkyWork is one of only three innovative and successful public and private sector companies in the British-Swiss business community to reach the finals in this category.

The Awards will take place on the evening of November 1st at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva. Michael Rodd, journalist and former presenter of BBC's "Tomorrow's World" programme will host the event.

Coincidentally, SkyWork Airlines is preparing to increase its frequency to three times daily (Monday to Friday) on its London City Airport to Bern route on October 29th with a new departure at 12:40 from Bern and 13:55 from London, complementing its morning and evening flights.

The quality of the entrants was extremely high this year and the short-listed nominees reflect the wide range of successful ventures across the British-Swiss business community, according to the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce. Carolyn Helbling, Managing Director of the BSCC adds: "Success in the current harsh economic environment does not come easily. It requires dedication, creativity, innovation and sheer hard work.

The finalist entries across the four award categories all displayed a client-centric, socially sensitive philosophy, backed by a clear strategy and vision. All have had to respond to changing customer behaviour, social priorities and the economic outlook. The British-Swiss Business Awards serve to recognise those companies and individuals who have been able to adapt to this environment and win market share and recognition in their field of activity."

Tomislav Lang, CEO of SkyWork Airlines comments: "We are delighted to be recognised as a finalist in the British-Swiss Business Awards, which are particularly timely as we look forward to launching our third midday service from London to Bern. Our focus is on consistently putting passengers at the heart of our operation, delivering excellence in customer service, tailoring our offering to meet their needs (Your Personal Way to Fly) and ensuring a quality product at every stage of the journey."

SkyWork was founded in 1983 and is one of the oldest airlines in Switzerland. Initially specialising in ad-hoc, business and charter flights, SkyWork's summer schedule embraces a total of 25 scheduled routes from Bern, including the UK's London City Airport. The fleet, which began with a single Cessna 340, has expanded to four Dornier 328 and three 72-seat Dash 8 Q400s. SkyWork currently has a workforce of 180 employees.

SkyWork Airlines became the first regional airline to offer its passengers Apple iPad entertainment since 2011. In February this year SkyWork received the top award for its Apple iPad in the Best In-flight Amenity (short-haul category) at the 2012 TravelPlus Awards.

Your Personal Way to Fly is SkyWork Airlines' claim - a philosophy it implements in every aspect of its operations - on the ground and in the air.
