Air bp has been awarded a seven-year extension to supply aviation fuels at Teruel Airport. Air bp, the aviation arm of bp which serves 650 locations across 40+ countries, will also invest in upgrading the facilities, increasing total storage capacity to 320 m³.
Teruel Airport is the largest aviation industrial centre in Europe and is advantaged in its position just 160 kilometres away from bp’s Castellon Refinery. The airport specialises in aircraft storage, maintenance, painting and recycling. Its dry climate and extensive infrastructure make it an ideal location for long-term parking and for cutting-edge aerospace initiatives.
Elida Cavic, Vice President for Southern Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa at Air bp, said: “bp has supported Teruel Airport for more than a decade, and this agreement reflects the strength of that relationship. We’re proud to continue providing the reliable, high-quality supply the airport needs as it grows.”
Alejandro Ibrahim, CEO of Teruel Airport , stated: “We are proud to have this collaboration with bp at Teruel Airport. This seven-year concession will bring stability, investment and an essential aviation fuel supply service. Their work is key to the operation of both large aircraft and general aviation. This collaboration further strengthens the airport’s position as a global benchmark in the sector.”
Air bp has supplied Teruel Airport since 2015, during which time the airport has become a leading logistics hub in Europe. The airport continues to expand and aims to offer up to 400 aircraft parking positions - with new hangars, a vertiport for air taxis and advanced aerospace testing facilities - and plans to double its workforce to more than 900 direct employees by 2027.
Additionally, the airport has announced that it will launch its new stratospheric airship hangar in 2027. This unique strategic infrastructure in Europe further strengthens its position as an international leader in the aerospace sector.
