AGlaze International Limited is pleased to announce the successful completion of a three-month trial of its AGlaze Aviation Sealant on two Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) Twin Otter aircraft. Following this trial, TMA, the world's largest floatplane operator, will now apply AGlaze Aviation Sealant to their entire 65-strong fleet as each aircraft comes out of maintenance with new paint.
Mohamed Nasser Ismail , Chief Engineer of TMA, stated: “We've begun testing AGlaze on our newly painted seaplanes, and the results are impressive - the surface is extremely shiny. Since we wash our aircraft every day, this product significantly reduces both time and amount of water needed to rinse off the salt from the surface.”
Mark German , GAP’s Technical Director, added: “Given the unique challenges posed by the harsh saltwater environment of the Maldives, TMA's decision to use AGlaze across its fleet underscores the sealant's effectiveness and durability. The trial demonstrated significant benefits, including improved gloss and shine, and substantial savings in daily wash times and water usage.
AGlaze Aviation Sealant is a cost-effective solution that creates an ultra-smooth painted surface which reduces parasitic drag, fuel consumption and emissions, increases gloss and shine, makes cleaning easier, quicker and less frequent and prevents paint fading, enabling operators to extend paint life.
Mike Cappuccitti , Managing Director of Gryphon Aviation Partners (GAP), the Exclusive Worldwide Sales Agent for the commercial airline sector added: “It’s great to see TMA take such a proactive approach to protect their fleet and the environment. The success of this trial demonstrates that AGlaze is a game-changer for operators when it works so well in the most challenging environments like the Maldives. We are proud to support TMA in its commitment to excellence and sustainability. We look forwards to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with TMA.”
Environmental Impact and Sustainability:
In addition to enhancing the appearance and protection of aircraft surfaces, the use of AGlaze Aviation Sealant aligns with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. The trial revealed that AGlaze not only reduces the amount of fresh water required for daily washes, a crucial resource in the Maldives, but also cuts down on the time needed to rinse off salt deposits from the aircraft surfaces.
This reduction in water usage and reduced maintenance time supports TMA's commitment to sustainable and responsible operations.
Michael Bollom , Chairman of AGlaze International Limited, commented: “We are thrilled with TMA’s decision to use AGlaze Aviation Sealant across its fleet. This partnership exemplifies our commitment to providing innovative solutions that not only improve performance and aesthetics, but also contribute positively to environmental sustainability. We look forward to continuing our work with TMA to help them achieve their operational and environmental goals.”
