Titan Airways provides aircraft to assist BA passengers
Thursday 18th March, 2010
Titan Airways, the London Stansted-based VIP charter specialist, has been contracted to operate two aircraft on behalf of BA for the duration of the planned strike by BA cabin crew from 20-22 March, inclusive. The aircraft, a Boeing 757 and a Boeing 767, will be based at London Heathrow, operating routes to and from Dusseldorf, Nice, Rome and Lyon. BA has a wet-lease arrangement with Titan, meaning that the aircraft will be provided with full cockpit and cabin crew.
Airline Sub-Charter
Titan Airways has considerable experience in providing aircraft and crew at very short notice to airlines across Europe. Titan’s unique short notice, rapid response ‘Go Now’ policy guarantees that an aircraft will be ready within 60-minutes of flight confirmation, enabling airlines to place an aircraft very quickly into their schedule in order to maintain the operation or minimise delays.
“Many operators rely on our ‘Go Now’ policy when one of their own aircraft has an issue – be it operational or otherwise, or if there is planned maintenance where the airline’s flying programme may be interrupted,” said Alastair Kiernan, Titan Airways’ Commercial Director. “BA is an existing client of ours and we’re happy to assist on this occasion to help keep passenger disruption to a minimum.”
The 767-300ER being provided to BA is the latest addition to Titan’s fleet. The wide-bodied 767 is configured with 265 seats in a 2/3/2 layout. “The 767 has phenomenal range – it can fly up to 6,000nm in around 13 hours, offering clients the potential to travel from London as far as Singapore or Los Angeles non-stop,” said Alastair Kiernan. “The 767 is now the largest aircraft in our fleet and is part of our ongoing strategy to bring newer generation aircraft into operation.”
Established in 1988, Titan Airways has established itself as a prestigious charter airline specialising in VIP, corporate and leisure travel. The airline is renowned for the first-class levels of care it provides, placing special emphasis on comfort and the quietness of its aircraft.
