Snowjet, the ski flight specialist which has started selling direct flights from London Stansted to Sion Airport in the popular Swiss Valais Region, experienced its best ever day for bookings while at Metrosnow, the world’s biggest consumer winter sports show, which took place from 21-25 October.

“This was Snowjet’s first time exhibiting at The Metro Ski & Snowboard Show,” said Snowjet Managing Director David Lacy. “We have been delighted with the positive feedback we received from the show’s visitors, which culminated on the Thursday of the show when we had our best ever day for bookings.

“Clients tell us they like the short transfer times direct flights to Sion offer, as well as the free 20kg baggage allowance and our ski-carriage charge of just £14.99 each way is considered very reasonable when compared to other airlines that charge up to £50 each way for the same service.”

Snowjet’s new scheduled Sion flights, operated by parent company Titan Airways’ BAE 146-200 jets are configured with just 80-seats with a seat pitch of 32 inches, providing passengers with extra leg room and comfort. The flights (number ZT 6411/2) will start operating twice-weekly every Saturday and Sunday from 19 December 2009 through to 18 April 2010, departing London Stansted at 1000, arriving Sion at 1300. From Sion, departures are at 1400, arriving London Stansted at 1500 (local times). These exclusive flights are bookable now at www.snowjet.co.uk from just £49 one way, including all taxes.

“Flights are selling so well at February half-term and Easter that we have already added extra departures,” said David Lacy. “We still have some great deals available for Christmas, New Year and January. There is also availability on our regional Chambery routes operating from Bristol, Birmingham, Gatwick, Manchester and Stansted, with lead-in fares still bookable from just £29 one-way, including taxes and a free 20kg baggage allowance.

Fly closer, ski longer

Passengers flying direct to Sion benefit from terrific time-saving advantages. Verbier is just 35 to 40 minutes away from Sion, compared with two hours from Geneva. In addition, Sion handles a relatively low volume of passengers, which means skiers don’t have a long wait at baggage reclaim or at check-in, enabling them to spend longer on the slopes. This, together with Snowjet’s convenient flight times, ensures passengers can enjoy their winter break to the full.

Sion is the fastest route to some of Switzerland’s top ski resorts, including Zermatt, Verbier, Saas Fee, Crans Montana, Nendaz and Veysonnaz. Snowjet’s Sion flights are the only scheduled services from the UK to this exclusive and efficient Alpine airport.

The new route to Sion complements Snowjet’s established routes, between Gatwick, Stansted, Bristol and Manchester and Chambery Airport in the French Alps. Flying to Chambery makes for significant time savings on transfers to some of France’s top ski resorts, including Meribel, Val d’Isere and Courchevel.

All Snowjet flights are ATOL protected, giving passengers’ financial protection and peace of mind.
