RDT presents the new Tempus IC medical monitoring device to the luxury yacht market

Sunday 16th November, 2008

RDT, the UK-based telemedicine specialist, is promoting its innovative Tempus ICTM device to the super yacht and marine market at the 2008 METS show in Amsterdam from 18 – 20 November. Stand EF045. Tempus ICTM is a remote medical monitoring product designed to enable non-medically qualified users, including crew members, to monitor eight key vital signs that can then be transmitted to a doctor at a land based location. The clinical data is essential for enabling a remote confident remote diagnosis and suggesting fast treatment for the patient.
The device enables users to collect information including blood pressure, pulse and 12-lead electrocardiogram. This data is then transmitted via your yacht’s existing communications technology to a chosen medical response centre. Tempus ICTM also includes a voice and video link that enables the doctor to see and hear the user and is the next best thing to having the physician present at the medical incident.

“Medical incidents can happen anywhere to anyone and using foreign medical services can be a frightening prospect. With Tempus ICTM, getting the best medical attention no longer depends on being in the right place at the right time, an essential for any medical emergency at sea” says RDT CEO, Graham Murphy.

RDT’s stand will be in the super yacht pavilion reflecting the type of sophisticated client that requires this equipment. Captains and first officers are already expressing keen interest and customers of the new Tempus ICTM include MedAire customers SY Ethereal and MY Samar. RDT has also developed close relationships with yacht management companies including Frasers Yachts.

RDT has secured over one hundred global pre-orders for the Tempus ICTM with clients coming from the maritime industry, commercial airlines, private aircraft owners and VIP clients. “Securing this many pre-orders is testament to the step change this pioneering product brings to the market.” said RDT CEO Graham Murphy.

“The maritime market is an extremely important sector of our business and sales from this sector currently account for about 20% or our business. We are keen to develop this important client base, and have already expanded our team of maritime sales and key account managers to service this expanding market. Clients in this field are accustomed to receiving the highest quality products and customer care.” said Glen Taylor, RDT International Maritime Sales Manager.

The Tempus ICTM with its full telemedicine capabilities is a much smaller, lighter and more robust version of RDT’s existing product Tempus 2000 which is already popular in the maritime market. “The latest generation of super yachts require the latest equipment and RDT believes any investment owners and companies make in preparing for an emergency situation at sea is both sound and responsible” said RDT CEO Graham Murphy. As customer Keith Moore, Captain MY Lady Sheridan, says “You can’t put a price on someone’s life and this is the best chance I have of saving one.”
