Newquay to New York! Christmas shopping in the Big Apple

Wednesday 3rd June, 2009

Newquay Cornwall Airport is delighted to welcome its first ever direct charter flight to New York this autumn.

The four-day visit, which departs on Thursday, November 19, is being jointly organised by Cornish travel agents, Wickers World Travel and Newell’s Travel. The trip, costing from £739 per person, includes three night’s accommodation in a central Manhattan hotel, flights and transfers to and from New York Newark Airport.

New York is renowned for its fabulous shopping with stores including Bloomingdales, Macey’s and Saks. Visitors will need to leave room in their suitcases to stock up on designer goodies and Christmas gifts for family and friends. Sightseeing is also a must while in New York with a visit to the Empire State Building and a boat tour to the Statue of Liberty being high on most visitors’ wish-lists. Central Park is another iconic New York tourist attraction, along with Times Square and Greenwich Village to consider while soaking up the atmosphere.

New York’s vibrant nightlife ranges from Broadway shows to live music at Carnegie Hall and cultural performances at the Met. And for those who still have the energy after all that shopping and sightseeing, there’s dancing in the bars and clubs of the Meatpacking District.

“It has long been our wish to offer flights to the USA and this charter route – ideally timed for Christmas shopping – is a great start,” said Head of Commercial Development, Karen Medweth. “We hope this will be the beginning of more transatlantic services, for which there is definitely demand from Cornwall.”

Passengers can secure their booking with a £100 deposit by calling Wickers World on 01637 875255 or Newell’s Travel on 0800 0087411 or by visiting www.wickersworldtravel.co.uk or www.newellstravel.co.uk.
