Newquay Cornwall Airport welcomes back flights to Alicante

Monday 1st June, 2009

Newquay Cornwall Airport welcomes back the popular Ryanair twice-weekly flights to Alicante in Spain direct from Newquay Cornwall Airport. Reinstated on June 2, ready for the peak summer season, the new link will appeal to residents in both destinations.

The constant Mediterranean sunshine, synonymous with Alicante and its popular Costa Blanca coastline, has made this route very popular with Cornish residents. Meanwhile, Cornwall, with its stunning beaches, rugged coastline, fine restaurants and visitor attractions, is renowned as the UK’s number one holiday destination and with the Euro now strong against the pound, ex-Pats and Spaniards will find something special in Cornwall.

Ryanair is flying the route every Tuesday and Saturday with Boeing 737-800 aircraft. Departure times are 1720 from Alicante, arriving 1910 in Newquay. Newquay departures are at 1935, arriving in Alicante two hours later.

“We are delighted to see the return of these flights to Alicante this summer,” said Newquay Cornwall Airport Head of Commercial Development Karen Medweth. “Spain is a top five destination for Cornwall holidaymakers and they will welcome the opportunity to fly direct from their local airport and at the same time experience all the enhancements we have made to the passenger experience with our recent investment in improvements to the passenger terminal – both departures and arrivals.”

The new Ryanair flights, which complement its daily flights from London Stansted to Newquay, can be booked online at www.ryanair.com. All other routes served by Newquay Cornwall Airport this summer are detailed on www.newquaycornwallairport.com
