New Macau show celebrates business aviation in Asia

Friday 22nd January, 2010

Reed Exhibitions will host a brand new business aviation event in one of Asia’s most vibrant and glamorous cities, Macau, China - during 9-11 June 2010. The event, to be staged at the Macau Business Aviation Centre (MBAC), Macau International Airport, comes hard on the heels of the organiser’s success with its business aviation showcase at Asian Aerospace in Hong Kong in September 2009.

Asian Business Aviation will bring together manufacturers of business jets and helicopters and suppliers from all sectors of corporate aviation for an event featuring a major static display, conference and hospitality chalets. The static display will highlight the crème de la crème of hardware from the world’s leading aviation players.

Asian Business Aviation will bring together manufacturers of business jets and helicopters and suppliers from all sectors of corporate aviation in co-located chalets and exhibition stands. An adjacent Static Display will highlight the crème de la crème of hardware from the world’s leading aviation players.

The Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) is supporting the Show, inviting its members and running a one-day conference to follow up on the topics first aired at Asian Aerospace last year. “We are delighted to join forces with Reed Exhibitions for this exciting new event,” said AsBAA Chairman and CEO of Jet Asia, Chuck Woods. “ABA in Macau will provide a valuable face to face networking platform this year – in the absence of other dedicated business aviation events in this region. Macau is our home base, close to China and MBAC is a terrific facility for business visitors. We welcome Reed Exhibitions’ initiative in recognising this opportunity,” he said.

Confirmed primary sponsors include the Civil Aviation Authority of Macau, the Macau Government Tourist Board, together with CAM Macau International Airport and the MBAC. Macau’s Trade and Investment Promotion Institute is also lending support in securing VIPs and prominent business visitors. Jet Asia Pacific also plans to host an exclusive party for industry high flyers during the show.

Significantly, Asian Business Aviation is timed to coincide with Reed Exhibitions’ annual and premier Global Gaming Expo Asia, G2E Asia, the biggest and most influential gaming event in Asia, attended by over 4,500 gaming professionals, owners of casinos, cruise ships and gaming clubs. Macau is a world renowned gaming Mecca and three years ago eclipsed Las Vegas as the richest gambling market in the world. G2E Asia takes place from 9 to 11 June at the famous Venetian Macau on the Cotai Strip. The Venetian will also be Asian Business Aviation’s preferred hotel and the venue for the AsBAA-supported conference.

Who will be there?

Reed Exhibitions is targeting business aviation operators, charter broker companies, airports and Fixed Base Operators, aircraft interiors, ground handling companies, insurance companies, fuel service companies, in-flight catering and other complementary ground support companies who do business in Asia or who want to expand into Asia. The visitor profile is pitched at CEOs and senior executives, entrepreneurs and corporates who may be shopping for a jet or helicopter, plus heads of advisory services in law, finance/leasing, maintenance and senior travel services executives.

“Reed Exhibitions delivered a very successful business aviation event during Asian Aerospace in Hong Kong in 2009 with a range of exhibiting companies and 16 aircraft out on the static. Our strategy is to build on this success with a dedicated business aviation show with everything centred at MBAC,” said Richard Thiele, Head of Global Sales, Aerospace & Aviation International Sales Group. “Importantly, Asian Business Aviation will be held concurrently with GT2 Asia, the biggest and most important show in Asia’s gaming industry. In 2011 it will return to Hong Kong as a key component of Asian Aerospace which is being held during 8-10 March 2011 at AsiaWorld Expo.”

Macau International Airport

Just a sort drive away from the newest, biggest and most spectacular tourism, entertainment and MICE facilities in Asia, Macau International Airport commenced operations in November 1995 but has quickly established a vital link between the Pearl River Delta, the fastest growing economic region and the rest of the world. It lies just 60 kms from Hong Kong and 145 kms from Guangzhou and has regular flights from Asia and Australia. Macau’s hinterland is Zhuhai, one of China’s Special Economic Zones and a regional manufacturing powerhouse.

Under Chinese rule since 1999, the new 21st Century Macau contrasts Centuries-old Portuguese architecture with grand temples, colourful and exciting Chinese street life and a glittering skyline of luxury five-star resorts renowned for their Las Vegas glitz.

The Venetian hotel, the largest building in the world in terms of floor space, is the wow factor on the skyline and home to the biggest casino in the world. On the first floor, gondoliers sing as they punt guests along the canals. Away from the hubbub of the city, Coloane Island is a tranquil haven with woodland walking trails, lakes, beach resorts and traditional fishing villages.
