London Oxford Airport highlights benefits at Schedulers & Dispatchers.

Tuesday 8th February, 2011

For the third consecutive year, award-winning London Oxford Airport will be participating at the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference, being held this week from February 9-11 at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center, Georgia, USA. Head of Customer Services, David Surley and customer services team member Leah Bruton, will be highlighting the benefits of the UK’s latest top-end FBO, Oxfordjet, at Booth # 239.

The Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference is an annual event aimed at those responsible for coordinating the use of business aircraft. The event includes exhibits from aviation products and services providers. Oxfordjet will be showcasing the state-of-the-art facilities available at its bespoke passenger terminal, providing rapid access to London, the Thames Valley, South East and the UK’s Central Business region. Just an hour by car from London’s West End, the airport also boasts UK Border pre-clearance and daily 0600-2230 operations, making it the most accessible business aviation hub for the nation’s capital city.

A CAT6 Airport with Convenient Opening Hours:

London Oxford Airport is open seven days a week from 0600 (first departure 0630) to 2230 every day. The airport can operate until midnight on request. As a CAT6 RFF airport, now with a newly approved Code 3C runway, Oxford can easily handle aircraft of up to 100 seats or more for VIP arrivals and departures. The airport regularly handes the Embraer E-jet family of larger E170/175/190/195 aircraft and similar Lineage variants.

Major Apron and Hangar Developments:

Work has completed on 17,800m2 (4.4 acres) of new high strength apron. The Airport has also resurfaced 5,000m2 of established surfaces, representing a £2.2m project providing a considerable enhancement in capacity and infrastructure, which will effectively double the parking capacity at the airport for aircraft weighing up to 50 tonnes. London Oxford Airport can now accommodate far more aircraft for visiting operators and Airport-based residents.

A new 4,440m2 (47,800 sq ft) hangar was constructed on the south side of the main airport site during 2010 and there are plans for another major hangar (55,000 sq ft) to be constructed during 2011. There will also be a further 60,000 sq ft of apron development and a significant redesign of the Airport’s front entrance with new access roads, a new security gate and office blocks (16,000 sq ft) with additional retail space.

UK Border Pre-Clearance:

London Oxford Airport has Customs Designated status and continues to offer UK Border liaison for all flights requiring assistance. The airport can coordinate all formalities, including the presence of border officials, with a quick and easy service provided by the border office conveniently located in the VIP terminal, enabling operators, sales companies and maintenance organisations to import from third party countries without the need to go via another airport in the UK first.

Pet Handling:

London Oxford Airport is one of only two General Aviation/Business Aviation Airports in the UK with full DEFRA approval for the importation of domestic pets. Owners of dogs, cats and ferrets can transport their pets on flights into the Airport from overseas under the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS). “We have more and more aircraft operators signing-up to the scheme,” said David Surley, Head of Customer Services. “Clearly many jet owners and users see the flexibility of the PETS quarantine exemption process as of paramount convenience and here we make the procedures very accessible, every day.” PETS includes animals being flown into the UK from the United States and Canada.

New Fire Tender:

The airport has invested around £500,000 on a new fire tender, as part of a continuing strategy to upgrade its fire services. The fire engine is the next generation in the ITURRI family of fire tenders and will be the first of its kind to be delivered to an airport in the UK in spring 2011.

Central London just 22-minutes away by Helicopter Shuttle:

All private jet passengers flying in and out of Oxford Airport have access to a seamless transfer facility provided by Capital Air Services. Oxfordjet markets executive helicopter services as part of its customer services package with all bookings and enquiries processed by the Oxfordjet Customer Services Team, located at the passenger terminal.

Hotel Partners:

Oxfordjet has teamed with the brand new Hotel Verta located at The London Heliport. The London Heliport, the capital city’s only commercial heliport, and Hotel Verta together form “London’s Vertical Gateway” - the first integrated hotel-heliport solution in Europe. Oxfordjet has exclusive rates that can be booked by the FBO.

Newly opened last October, closer to Oxfordjet, is the brand new 4-star deluxe Crowne Plaza Hotel at Heythrop Park, Oxford. With more than 190 guestrooms, a large conference facility and state-of-the-art health club, the Crowne Plaza is part of the Firoka Group and the first major international top-end chain to open a property in Oxford. It is situated just 15 minutes north of the airport at the Heythrop Park Resort, a classic British stately home and golfing retreat. All air crew staying at the hotel while on flying duty through Oxford will be guaranteed “quiet floor” rooms and complimentary health club services.

London Oxford Airport opened its Oxfordjet business aviation terminal in July 2008. Today it handles an ever-increasing number of daily business aviation movements, especially from international visiting jets originating from as far afield as the Caribbean, Middle East and Africa. It is also seeing a general increase in average aircraft size with Embraer Legacy 600, Falcon 900 and 2000 aircraft based on-site and also popular with the new ultra long-range Falcon 7X.

The Oxfordjet FBO facility boasts a fresh, modern exterior design. Inside there are separate lounges for crews, along with VIP and VVIP zones for passengers, assuring maximum privacy. Private shower rooms, a crew kitchen and meeting rooms are provided, together with customs and immigration facilities. Check-in and security screening are convenient and swift, ensuring minimal foyer-to-take-off times.
