Dorset’s second charity ‘Plane Pull’ confirmed as Titan Airways joins the cause
Wednesday 16th June, 2010
Following the success of the inaugural event in 2009, raising more than £7k for charity, and with support from Titan Airways, the UKs most prestigious VIP charter airline, organisers are delighted to announce that preparations are well underway for the 2010 Dorset Plane Pull to be held at Bournemouth Airport on Sunday 8th August.
Teams of 20 will each attempt to pull Titan’s distinctive 30,000kg Boeing 737-300 a distance of 50 meters, with the proceeds raised being donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Ferndown-based John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
“Finding a suitable aircraft for this year’s event has been quite a challenge, but owing to Titan Airways’ generosity and timely intervention, we are thrilled to confirm the use of a 130-seat Boeing 737,” said Richard Griffin, one of the event organisers.
Titan Airways Managing Director Gene Willson said: “We are very happy to lend support to such a worthwhile cause. Titan recently established a base at Bournemouth Airport so it’s great to know local charities will benefit from the event, which promises to be a fun day out for everyone involved.”
London-Stansted headquartered Titan Airways was founded in 1988. The airline is renowned for its wealth of experience and attention to detail, specialising in bespoke VIP and corporate travel. Titan’s reputation is built on its unique ‘Go Now’ policy, which guarantees that any of its fleet, including the 737-300, can be airborne within 60 minutes of flight confirmation. The airline has flown members of the Royal Family and many household names including the Rolling Stones, the England Football Team and Gordon Brown.
Other local businesses including European Skybus, Bournemouth Helicopters, the Bournemouth Daily Echo, Sorridi Restaurant and IDG Group have also pledged support. With this year’s Charity Plane Pull fund-raising target set at £10,000, the organisers are keen to obtain as much sponsorship as possible.
