clickair hopes to achieve more than 400,000 passengers on UK routes owing to Heathrow centralisation

Tuesday 19th May, 2009

clickair, Spain’s largest low fares airline, has announced it is moving all its UK routes to London Heathrow. Direct routes to Vigo and Seville, currently operated out of London Gatwick, will switch to London Heathrow, alongside clickair’s Bilbao and La Coruna services, effective 01 June 2009.

Clickair transported more than 316,000 passengers between UK and Spain during 2008. Flying to Heathrow, one of the most important airports in Europe and the best for connecting international traffic, the airline hopes to achieve more than 400 000 passengers during 2009. The decision to streamline all UK clickair flights is designed to provide an improved service for passengers.

Vigo connection

The only direct route between the UK and Vigo was launched by clickair in June 2008 and was operational throughout the summer. The airline worked with the Foundation Provigo for more than a year studying the viability of this link to London. A major natural harbor, Vigo is also a traditional port-of-call for British commercial vessels and sailing yachts after crossing the Bay of Biscay en route to the coasts of North Africa, Gibraltar or the Canary Islands. Unlike other Galician towns, Vigo enjoys high summer temperatures and milder winters owing to the influence of the warm-water Gulf Stream current. The region also boasts beautiful beaches and a very cosmopolitan outlook.
