Clickair - European low fares airline to offer on-line booking for pets and unaccompanied minors

clickair has become the first Spanish low fares airline to offer travel to unaccompanied minors (UM) between five and thirteen years of age through a dedicated on-line function on its website and through its international telephone reservation number: + 800 254 252 47.

The UM service is available with immediate effect to all domestic destinations within Spain, including routes from the mainland to the Balearic and Canary Islands, for an additional cost of 30€ per flight (50€ to the Canaries) and will be extended to all international routes, including the UK, in early 2009 for a 50€ surcharge.

This new option requires completion of an on-line registration form or providing information through the airline’s Call Centre about the minor, the persons that will deliver him/her at departure and will receive him/her at arrival. Once presented at check-in, the minor is escorted through security to the aircraft and seated in the forward rows to facilitate in-flight attention by the crew. On arrival, he or she is accompanied to the arrivals lounge and delivered to the properly identified persons waiting.

Of the eight main European low fares airlines, only two accept unaccompanied minors, but clickair is the first carrier to provide this service on-line as an additional feature of its one-stop ticket purchasing process which also offers options including premium seating, immediate printing of boarding, flexible fares that allow changes, etc.

Travel with your best [non-human] friend

Another innovation in the works at clickair is the possibility to travel with pets on board. This facility will be available from July 2009 on all clickair’s domestic and international flights. A 20€ fee will be applied to flights within Spain and a 35€ charge for international flights. Pets not weighing more that 8kgs may travel with their owners in a suitable crate placed at the feet of their owners.
