clickair and Germanwings team to increase destinations
Wednesday 30th April, 2008
clickair and Germanwings, the leading low fare airlines in Spain and Germany, will make selected flights between their respective countries available to each other’s passengers following the ratification of an innovative online marketing agreement. The partnership is aimed at increasing the number of destinations offered on their respective websites.
Effective immediately, passengers browsing www.clickair.com for flights from Barcelona to Germany can select clickair’s s own destinations (Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich) but also Stuttgart and Cologne, whereupon they are redirected to the Germanwings website (www.germanwings.com) to complete the transaction.
Conversely, Germanwings passengers originating from Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich will now have the option of selecting Barcelona as a new destination and be redirected to the clickair website to chose their flight and complete their purchase.
“We are delighted to offer these new connections to our customers. It exemplifies two key traits of our airline: giving the broadest range of choices to our passengers and implementing them through an innovative, yet simple method.” said Alex Cruz, CEO of clickair.
Thomas Winkelmann, Germanwings CEO, added that by introducing collaborative initiatives such as this cross marketing agreement, “Passengers benefit from a broader offering at competitive prices and companies like ours lead the way in bringing down the cost of low fare travel to more European consumers.”
“In Germanwings and its CEO Thomas Winkelmann, we have found a like-minded partner and equally a forward looking partner,” added Cruz. “We both believe that this agreement, a world-first, is a good example of how ‘new generation’ operators are transforming the airline industry like never before in the last half century.”
