ARINC demonstrates automated biometric control gate at TRANSEC 2010

Tuesday 14th September, 2010

ARINC EMEA is unveiling a new element in its portfolio of integrated border management solutions at TRANSEC 2010 with a demonstration of an automated biometric border control gate and biometric enrolment kiosk.

ARINC EMEA’s solution allows biographical data and biometric data to be combined. This enables legitimate passengers, either enrolled as Registered Travelers or with ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) compliant electronic passports, to be processed through the gate more accurately and more swiftly, allowing border control officials to focus their attention on suspect passengers.

As a Systems Integrator, ARINC EMEA is extending its offering within its Integrated Border Information and Control Systems (IBICS) framework by aligning with `best of breed` solutions suppliers. One of the first partners to be signed is the world leading automated border control systems provider, Vision-Box S.A., who have already installed systems in other countries, including Portugal, UK and Finland. ARINC EMEA is currently in discussion with a number of other leading technology partners and future announcements of their participation in ARINC projects will be made in due course.

“ARINC EMEA is very pleased to welcome Vision-Box and our partnership has already led to discussions with a number of potential customers in the EMEA region”, said Ray Batt, Director of Government & Security for ARINC EMEA. “Our understanding of Advanced Passenger Information Systems business processes and physical security systems enable us to integrate the latest smart technology to deliver a value-added solution to improve passenger flow at airports and enhance the accuracy of border security screening”.

“Integrating our advanced automated border control system into ARINC’s platform, will increase the range of Vision-Box technologies, providing further airports and passengers with a much more efficient and swift clearance process and airport experience”, said Miguel Leitmann, Senior Vice President for Vision-Box S.A. “Using Vision-Box’s advanced biometrics together with our intelligent and precise control gates, passengers will take full advantage of increased mobility at airports
