Al Bateen Executive Airport welcomes new UAE operator - Rotana Jet Aviation.

Tuesday 31st May 2011

Al Bateen Executive Airport, operated by Abu Dhabi Airports Company as the only dedicated business airport in the Middle East, today announces it has a new base-operator, Rotana Jet Aviation. The new company, which commenced private jet operations at the beginning of April with a Gulfstream G450, has committed to leasing Building/Hangar 27 at Al Bateen Executive Airport, where it will develop and expand its scope of services to offer line maintenance and other technical works.

Rotana Jet Aviation, which is the latest private-jet company in the UAE to secure an Air Operator's Certificate, has selected Al Bateen and its new service-orientated DhabiJet FBO as its home. Rotana Jet maintains its offices in Dubai and plans to add four to five aircraft to its fleet each year, specialising in the large cabin, wide-bodied jets - which reflect the majority of requirements in the Gulf Region market.

"We are delighted to grow our business at Al Bateen Executive, the Region's only dedicated airport for business aviation. Its convenient location, professional team, and fine facilities, which are continually being enhanced, mirror our own commitment to superior service and quality," said Rotana Jet CEO Horm Irani.

Steve Jones, Al Bateen General Manager, who ratified the collaboration at the recent EBACE show in Geneva said: "We are delighted to welcome Rotana Jet at Al Bateen. Our new DhabiJet FBO will look after their clientele and crew. They will benefit from our city centre location, 24/7 opening hours and no slot restrictions."

In addition to corporate/private air charters, Rotana Jet offers a range of specialist aviation services, including aircraft management and consultancy. While the company is young (launched in November 2010), it boasts a strong management Team with over 150 years' aviation experience both internationally and the Arabian Gulf Region. CEO Horm Irani is the former Managing Director of ExecuJet Middle East.

A qualified professional engineer, he has over 27 years' professional aviation experience. He served 11 years in the Canadian Air Force, in various operational, engineering and programme management roles, before making the transition to commercial aviation with Bombardier Aerospace's Regional Aircraft division - where he spent seven years in Customer Support and Sales roles. After undertaking an MBA and serving two years with ExecuJet, he established his own aviation consultancy practice in the Dubai Airport Free Zone, where one of his larger projects was the creation of Nakheel/Istithmar World Aviation.

Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) is a public joint-stock company wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi Government. It was incorporated by Amiri Decree number 5, issued on 4 March 2006, to spearhead the development of the Emirate's aviation infrastructure.

In September 2006, ADAC assumed responsibility for the operation and management of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain International Airports. In 2008, ADAC added Al Bateen Executive Airport (an exclusive private aviation airport), and Sir Bani Yas and Delma Island Airports to its portfolio.

These airports are geared to serve the various segments of air travellers, the aviation marketplace, and will help contribute to Abu Dhabi's development as a destination for both business and leisure tourism.

Currently under way is the multi-billion dollar re-development and expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport designed to increase the overall capacity of the airport to more than 20 million passengers per year. As part of this redevelopment, a second runway and a third terminal have been completed.
