COBALT AIR UNVEILS SPECIAL FARES FOR STUDENTS

School's out for summer and to celebrate Cyprus' largest airline is offering students special fares inclusive of a free baggage allowance.

With the summer season now in full swing, Cyprus' largest airline, Cobalt Air, has sun, sea and... student promotions firmly on its agenda. The Cypriot carrier is offering students a free 25kg baggage allowance across all routes on its network.

The student fares with baggage promotion is currently only available through Travel Agents connected to the Global Distribution Systems (GDSs) and via the Cobalt Call centre which is open 24 hours a day (0330 808 0430). This latest initiative continues to demonstrate Cobalt Air's support to the trade.

The offer is open to students aged 17-26 years and applies to one piece of baggage only. Those who are eligible for the fare will simply need to present a valid student ID card when checking-in for their flight.

With its home base in Larnaca, Cobalt has a network covering over 20 destinations around Europe and the Middle East. Those travelling from the UK to the sun-kissed Mediterranean island can chose to take off from four airports across the country, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester, with fares as low as £62.

Flights from Heathrow to Larnaca are daily, while from Gatwick, Cobalt offers four weekly flights to Larnaca, as well as twice weekly flights to Athens. From Stansted-Larnaca flights operate three times weekly and from Manchester-Larnaca flights are twice weekly. Onward connections to Abu Dhabi are also available from Larnaca three times a week.

Cobalt's special fares for students comes hot on the heels of the news that the airline has joined IATA's Billing Settlement Plan (BSP). This latest move enables all IATA accredited travel agents to sell and issue Cobalt Air tickets and will bring the airline closer to travel agents as well as its passengers.

Paul Simmons, CCO of Cobalt Air, commented:

"We know our younger travellers have been studying hard all year and now it's time for them to hit the beach. We also know with several changes of outfit each day they don't like to travel light. So, we're delighted to be able to offer them a free 25kg baggage allowance on flights across our network.

The student fare is open for all travel dates, which means students planning ahead can book now for any travel around the September return to Uni and the Christmas Holidays.

"It's been a busy month for our team. Our student fare promotion follows our announcement that we have joined BSP, enabling all IATA accredited travel agents to sell and issue Cobalt Air tickets. And earlier in the month, we also unveiled the latest addition to our portfolio - Cobalt Holidays, offering exciting hotel and flight deals around the world.

"Throughout all these recent initiatives our passengers' needs have remained at the heart of our business model and will continue to do so as we endeavour to grow our operations."
