RUAG Aviation and Rheinland Air Service are collaborating in order to better support the worldwide client base of ATR 42/72 aircraft. The combined services solution includes landing gear maintenance, repair and overhaul services (MRO) by RUAG facilities in Interlaken, Switzerland, and dummy, loaner and exchange landing gear sets, along with removal, installation and other aircraft maintenance services by Rheinland Air Service.

Customers of this collaboration will benefit from a more reliable and wider customer support network as well as a "One Stop Shop" solution, involving competitive pricing, transparent cost estimates, and professional and transparent project tracking and reporting.

With RUAG's focus on high quality, short turnaround times, competitive pricing, and professional service project management, RUAG has entered into the ATR 42/72 landing gear support market as the only independent full service provider in Europe. "Customers stand to benefit from RUAG Aviation's extensive experience in landing gear MRO for both civil and military aircraft. We are proud to join forces with Rheinland Air Service and support our partners' client base", says RUAG Aviation's Volker Wallrodt, Senior Vice President Subsystems & Products. He continues, "Following our successful Dornier 328 landing gear support program, the move towards ATR 42/72 was a natural next step."

Rheinland Air Service (RAS) brings further MRO expertise and its extensive ATR parts inventory to the collaboration. Being the first ATR approved MRO network partner in Europe, RAS has comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul experience on ATR 42/72 aircraft. The 8,500m2 RAS headquarters in Mönchengladbach, near Düsseldorf, Germany, recently built a second large hangar with bays for six more ATR aircraft.

The company also maintains a generous parts warehouse with an inventory valued at $15 million USD. Furthermore, RAS has an ATR "part out" service in accordance to these parts, thus providing a wealth of rare, hard-to-find, yet affordable ATR spare parts. These spare parts are thoroughly tested, refurbished, and recertified upon requirement. RAS is one of only three companies in the world to earn a coveted ATR certification for flight controls. "Our broad ATR expertise and inventory makes us the perfect partner for RUAG in this joint project, which benefits the customers of both companies", says Walter Lange, COO of Rheinland Air Service.
