One year after launching its continental headquarters to support the Americas, the leading international trip support provider UAS has already serviced more than 1,000 flights to and from South America.

As South America's most robust economy, Brazil serves as the anchor of operations for UAS in the region however, UAS's business has been rapidly developing across the continent.  "Our clients are flying more, and we have seen a considerable rise in activity from previously underdeveloped areas such as Chile, Colombia, and Peru," says Carlos Vieira, UAS Business Development Manager for South America. "Improved open international trade and foreign investment policies are both key contributors and have underpinned business aviation growth across South America."

Equipped with an in-house operations center available 24/7, the Americas headquarters provides South American clients with around-the-clock service in Spanish and Portuguese, limiting communications barriers. UAS has also undertaken a major push to enhance its local presence on the continent, recruiting seasoned industry veterans to ensure premium service. "We are progressing rapidly," says Ryan Frankhouser, UAS Regional Director for the Americas. "Our Americas team already has over 500 years of combined aviation industry experience and can handle every step of the logistics process."

World Class Services at the World Cup.

The World Cup proved a formidable test of UAS capabilities. Among the early birds to secure slots for the tournament, UAS Americas fielded a surge of last-minute requests from private jet owners and VIP charters from Europe and South America, especially for the final games.

"Many football fans were waiting to find out if their teams would advance before committing to travel," says Vieira. "So there was a huge contingent of private-jet customers who had not booked beyond the first round and who needed places to land, aircraft servicing, and ground support."

Aircraft parking was a particularly difficult challenge. With priority given to FIFA members, heads of states, and teams, overnight aircraft parking at slot-controlled airports in Brazil was very difficult to obtain.

"We really had a chance to prove that we could deliver on short notice," says Frankhouser. "Our operations team worked non-stop to arrange VIP accommodation and secure last minute permit and slots. A top priority was to minimize delays for our clients, so we came up with an extensive list of alternate airports for parking and leveraged our partnerships with many different hangar operators and airports to reposition jets, using drop-and-go services when necessary. In all cases, we had ground transportation and accommodation arrangements confirmed."

UAS team members will be attending the Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (LABACE), in Sao Palo from 12-14 August. To learn more about their services in South America and their World Cup experience, visit them at booth #2012.
