  • Best Fly Maintenance sign agreement with CorJat at EBACE 2014

Luanda, Angola, 21 May 2014 - Angola-based Best Fly Group announced today it has formed a strategic partnership with Spanish company Corjet Maintenance (Booth number 834). The agreement sees the official creation of start-up company Best Fly Maintenance and will be formally signed during EBACE by Carlos Carbó, President  of Corjet Maintenance, Nuno Pereira, and Jorge Molar, Managing Partners at Best Fly.

Under the terms of the agreement Best Fly Maintenance will benefit from Corjet Maintenance's EASA Part 145 knowledge and experience, enabling the newly formed business to offer a wide range of maintenance solutions in Angola and the surrounding region.   Best Fly Maintenance will effectively become an extension of Corjet Maintenance in Africa, offering equivalent capabilities in terms of aircraft maintenance. Corjet will also provide human resources and training programmes to Best Fly maintenance engineers and technicians in Luanda and at its main base station in Madrid. "This is the first time an MRO agreement of this type has been developed and implemented to bolster executive aviation in Angola", said Carlos Carbó.

Best Fly Maintenance will be able to work on aircraft registered anywhere in the world and perform a significant number of maintenance tasks that until now have been handled abroad owing to the lack of qualified service centres in Angola. Nuno Pereira, Managing Partner anticipates that Best Fly Maintenance will be well positioned to handle regional AOG situations in a more efficient manner with teams deployed directly from Luanda.   The agreement will also address local market needs for parts and components which Best Fly Maintenance will be able to provide from its new facility.

New line maintenance station planned for Luanda  Airport by year end.

The Best Fly Group is making a significant investment to provide the required facilities, tooling, local approvals, parts, and components, to support the development of the new line maintenance station at Luanda Airport. In preparation for the opening, Best Fly will also be investing in training its maintenance team to work across a range of aircraft types.

"This is not just a key partnership for Best Fly, but also for Angola as it brings new skills to the region's aviation industry whilst satisfying the growing market need for a high quality maintenance services. We strongly believe that by investing locally we will improve our business and ensure its long term commercial viability whilst benefitting the country too," said Pereira.

Best Fly identified Corjet Maintenance as the most suitable partner as both companies have similar corporate values in terms of safety, customer support competence and quality levels. "Corjet's aircraft maintenance and avionics capabilities complement Angola's market profile and the company's overall organizational culture and operations methodology match our own goals and global strategy," said Jorge Molar.

Best Fly Maintenance is already winning maintenance contracts and customers signed include owners or operators of a range of aircraft including Gulfstream G550, G450 and GIII, Dassault Falcon 900 and 7x, Bombardier Challenger 605,  Hawker 900XP and 400XP and Beechcraft King Air 350 and 90. It is anticipated that the first project to be handled  by the new company in the third quarter of the year will be a King Air 350, for a 200 hour, phase two inspection.  A mixed team of Angolan and Spanish Corjet Engineers will complete the maintenance work together.  Best Fly Maintenance anticipates a through put of over 15 aircraft in its first year of operations.
